Long title, I know. So I will start with the "rant" and get it right out of the way. I went to the post office to mail two packages and all my swap Valentines(had to buy stamps too). The first package fit neatly into one of the flat rate priority boxes(with self sticking lids), but the second package wouldn't fit. So I nicely asked if they had any of the larger square priority boxes, and the woman tells me that they don't carry those. OK, so I have to go over to where they sell the boxes and pick out the appropriate size, got it all packaged in, except for the taping of it(I had purposely left my packing tape at home because I knew if I sent it priority mail that they would tape it). I head to the counter and the woman curtly tells me that she can't tape the box for me and tells me I have to go buy one of their rolls. Um, NO, I'm not spending $4 just to tape one box!, especially when I have a whole roll at home. I tell her no thank you, just ring up the other package, charge me for the box, and give me the stamps I need. While all this happening, I'm staring at THREE large rolls of tape sitting on her counter(2 priority and one regular), so I ask her... even if I'm sending this Priority Mail, you can't throw 2 strips of priority mail tape on it. She's snaps back with NO, and tells me how they had let people use their tape longer than most post offices.(so what is all that tape for?) Well, me, not being able to keep my mouth shut lately, snaps back with a very loud, "Cheap post office". So, needless to say, I didn't mail my second box and have to make a return trip because she couldn't spare two freaking pieces of tape!!!!!
On to the "rave"... in our home, we generally always eat dinner at the table, maybe once a week in the family room if we all want to watch a tv show, but for the most part we like to eat at the table(it's a great time to talk and joke with each other). Well, last night, dinner was running late and all I was making were baked potatoes with different toppings(and my younger two wanted sandwiches) so I decided to just let them eat in the familyroom. I usually serve up the dishes youngest to oldest with me always last. So by the time I had my dinner in hand, hubby was sitting in his recliner, my oldest son was on the couch, the 7 yr old and 4 yr olds were in front of the fireplace with my 10 yr old daughter, and my 12 yr old daughter was at the kitchen table with my toddler. I take my dinner to the table and sit down next to them. Within about a minute, hubby noticed I was at the table and he joined us. Then my 10 yr old daughter noticed and she joined us. And then totally unexpected, my 14 yr old son(who is very much a teenager), gets off the couch and joins us at the table!!! I looked at hubby and nodded my head about it, I was so happy. The 4 yr old and 7 yr old were already done and were in and out of the kitchen, but my oldest 3(and the baby) actually chose to sit and eat dinner with us. I guess we must be doing something right :) (proud mommy moment)
On to the thrift finds... I found 37 bindings/rick rack/edgings at goodwill yesterday. They were $.29 a piece and a great addition to my stockpile(which was getting low).
Then I got a vintage juicer(love the basket weave pattern) and two neat glass candle sticks(I have growing collection of these, all different kinds).
You know you have a lot of stuff when it takes you a year and half to realize you are missing things!! When I washed up the juicer yesterday, I suddenly thought, I have 3 more of these, but I have no idea where they are! I have not seen them since we moved into this house. The only place I think they can be is in one unpacked box in the basement that I thought only had a set of china in it(which I have no room for, so I didn't see the need to unpack it). But now I'm thinking that there is more in that box than I know, because I am missing a pottery pitcher too. Hmmm....
And last, but not least, on to the finished project. I actually started this early last year and just now finally finished the border on it. Someone, not telling who, is getting it in the mail, I hope she likes it!!

Now, I really must get to picking up the house and maybe I will go search through that box of so called china!!
Have a terrific day and Happy Friday!
