I hope you are in the mood for a long, long, long photo post because this is going to be one. I'll try to add a caption with each pic. Speaking of pics, is anyone else having problems with typepad? It takes me so long to load each pic, it drives me nuts! Anyway, here we go(there are a lot of family pics, but also some great scenic pics, and some interesting store pics)...
Home Sweet Home, ok, not at all what I would call it, but it works and it beats a hotel room(I am such a germaphobe). We stayed at Camden Hills Rv park, it was a nice small park with a pool and close to the village.
View from our parking spot in Camden village. It's a nice town to walk around and window shop, but it's a bit touristy for me. And some of the shops are definitely meant for the wealthy out of state tourists. There was a really neat doll store with antique dolls and magnificent doll houses, but they ranged from $2,500 to $20,000!!! And then there was a decoy shop with cool primitive carved wood whales, of course the one I liked was $600(it didn't come home with us).
A pretty park next tot he library
I love white fences and this house had a pretty one, my pic doesn't do it justice as I just got a side shot. But the whole yard was wrapped in this white fence with big acorn top finials.
Pretty waterfall in town. It was on the backside of main st shops.
We took a short drive up to Belfast so that I could go to Genie Francis' shop "The Cherished Home" . It was a very neat store, but on the pricey side. They had the most gorgeous curtains by Pot Luck Estate(in the Daisy Mae pattern) but they wanted $210 a panel!!! I opted for the napkins in the same fabric at only $13 a piece. She had some beautiful furniture by Lee, including this sofa which I thought was an old piece that someone made a quilt slipcover for. I had no idea it was a totally new piece! I know where I'm getting all my furniture from if we win the lottery ;)
A view of the outside of her shop, sorry for the bad pic from the car.
I was pleasantly surprised to find this store on the way to Belfast. She was featured in a Country Living magazine article a bit ago. All the wool blankets are handmade right in the shop. The store is kind of like a modern art gallery, sparse and white, just featuring the blankets on rods with lights shining down. I didn't buy anything, again a bit pricey, but you are getting a completely handmade item that is made right here in Maine. Check out her website Swans Island Blankets . She also just opened up a store in Freeport on the 4th of July.
Another beautiful view along rt 1.
Cute corner market. I loved the bananas and produce in the window.
The next large group of pictures were taken from the top of Battie mountain in Camden state park. It was a gorgeous view and I think the best part of our trip....
That is Camden from a bird's eye view
And here are some of the little fort monument at the summit...
We ate at a restaurant in downtown Rockland called the Black Bull Tavern and they had the best sweet potato french fries, ooh could I go for some of those now! They also had some awesome pickles, which we asked where they got them from. They told us where and we spent 3 days trying to find this place. We finally found it on the last day of our trip, it's called Morse's Sauerkraut. It's a nice little european deli type place with all sorts of import foods and homemade pickles and sauerkraut. We of course bought the pickles and also some Kinder eggs(which are very hard to come by in the states) and some Happy Hippos(these are scrumptious!).
And a few more random pics from the trip....
So there is a quick photo shoot of our trip, hope you enjoyed it :) We had a good time, though we all couldn't wait to get home to our nice comfy beds and a house with 3 bathrooms;P I'll post some pics of my treasures from the trip next week. Enjoy your weekend.
